Sandeep Ahuja, the President of Punjab Insurance Agency, is a workaholic who believes that hard work, determination, and courage are the key ingredients to achieving success in life.
A Humble Beginning
Like many, Sandeep started his journey with humble beginnings to pay his bills. Back in Chandigarh, India, he worked in the restaurant industry as a waiter. This role allowed him to understand the trade and its intricacies. However, he soon realized that this field was not his calling as a businessman.
A Career Pivot
Sandeep’s journey took a new turn when he met Sr. Bachitter Singh Mehmi, who suggested exploring opportunities in banking. Following this advice, he transitioned into a career in banking, marking the start of his climb to success.
Ahuja joined RBC as an Insurance Advisor, a move he described as aligning with his strengths and aspirations. Reflecting on this decision, he shared, “I thought I can successfully do that keeping in view my strengths. Moreover, I wanted to start my own business venture in the insurance field and thought this would be just the right path and a great kick-start.”
The Birth of Punjab Insurance Agency
After two years at RBC, Sandeep took a bold step and left to establish his own brokerage. Fate played a role when he partnered with Sherjang Singh Rana to launch Punjab Insurance Agency Inc. in 2006. Over the years, this independent insurance brokerage grew into a thriving enterprise with offices across Canada. While Rana oversees operations in Toronto, Sandeep manages the Surrey office.
When asked about his confidence in the success of his venture, Sandeep said, “If you really believe that you have something amazing to share with the world (and there is a market for it), then go for it as the risk is a calculated one.”
Commitment to Growth
The journey of Punjab Insurance Agency is far from over. The firm has seen significant growth, but Sandeep believes this is just the beginning, with many milestones yet to be achieved. The agency provides cost-effective and beneficial insurance solutions, ensuring clients receive the best possible premiums. With representatives across Canada, the team is dedicated to delivering a stellar insurance experience.
Family and Personal Life
Sandeep is the youngest of four siblings, two of whom are also in the insurance business in Canada. He attributes much of his success to his wife, Rashmi Ahuja, an Insurance Advisor actively involved in the business. Sandeep praises her instrumental role in shaping Punjab Insurance Agency into the successful venture it is today. Together, they are proud parents of three children: Abhinav, Tesoro, and Simone.
In his downtime, Sandeep enjoys long drives with his family and playing badminton with friends.
Vision for the Future
When asked about his goals for the next decade, Sandeep expressed a clear vision:
“I want to serve the Indian Community in their language and continue to serve their insurance needs to their satisfaction.”
