“There is no easy shortcut to anywhere worth going. You must be willing to make sacrifices. It’s a process!” These are the words that keep Dr Nisha Garg going. A renowned Endodontist, cosmetic surgeon, an author, a professor, a wife and a mother, she is making a difference in the lives of many.
We usually come across kids who have this urge of knowing more and more, and Nisha in her childhood was just the same. She wanted to know-it-all. An enthusiastic reader and an avid sportswoman, Dr Nisha Garg, completed her schooling from Shishu Niketan School, Chandigarh.
Maybe it was destined in her stars or because of the innate affection in her personality, kind nature and calm behaviour — she chose to pursue the medical field and decided to study about the art of dental wellness.
Being always focused on her work with a vision clear in her mind, she has been awarded with many Gold Medals throughout her tenure as a student. She completed her bachelors from BRS Dental College, Panchkula. Her interest further grew in providing pain relief to the patients and she chose to complete her MDS degree in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics from Government Dental College, Patiala, Punjab, India.
On the academic front she is an Ex. Resident, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh, and Government Dental College (Rajindra Hospital), Patiala.
Writing always gave her wings and writing about her subject made her even more confident and helped spread knowledge to young dentists in a simplified form. Therefore, she embarked on a journey to become a well-known author. Dr Nisha has penned down many distinguished books on endodontics and operative dentistry. These books are globally acknowledged and published in different languages.
Dr Nisha believes that learning keeps you updated to newer concepts and techniques, due to her passion for teaching, she runs app based academy “Dr Nisha Garg Dental Academy” where students get coaching and guidance for various competitive dental exams like NDEB, INBDE, NEET MDS and many more.
According to her “A good dentist needs to be patient, caring, knowledgeable, have strong interpersonal and communication skills and most importantly, good manual dexterity.” She says her passion towards her area of work grows with each passing day.
When we asked her if she would like to give one tip to the aspiring dental students, or the ones pursuing dental school, she said, “You should always be motivated towards your goal and aim for achieving excellence in results irrespective of the number of hurdles you face. Remember, there is no shortcut to success.”
She owes her success to her parents and her husband Dr Amit Garg.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Her strength is her subject and the amassed knowledge she has. Her weakness according to her is her thrust to know more and that motivates her to keep learning.
She emphasises on preserving the natural teeth and providing a smile with enhanced aesthetics and functions.
She is acknowledged by patients for her painless ways of root canal treatment and giving them a chance to smile proudly as a result of her extensive experience in restorative work and root canal treatments.
Dr Nisha is highly efficient at performing cosmetic dental works which focus on the beauty of smile and covers the treatments that enhance, align and whiten the teeth for a happy and healthy smile. She achieves this by carrying-out different treatments like dental veneers, cosmetic fillings, teeth whitening and other smile designing procedures.
Having firm belief in herself, she is a shining armour for her family, friends and patients.
She has one piece of advice for all the readers. “Brush your teeth, especially the ones you want to keep because oral health is as important as your general health.” With this she signs off.
