The President of Punjab Insurance Agency, Sandeep Ahuja is a workaholic who be – lieves in hard work, determi – nation, and courage as a key combination to succeed in life.
Like almost everyone, he made a humble beginning to pay his bills. Being a Restaura – teur, back home in India in the city beautiful, Chandigarh, he joined the industry as a wait – er so that he can understand the tricks of the trade as well as the trade. Soon he realized that this field may not be his cup of tea as a businessman.
Then he met Sr. Bachit – ter Singh Mehmi, who suggested that he join Bank services as there were plen – ty of opportu – nities available. He then made a switch and there was no looking back for him.
Ahuja decided to join RBC as Insurance Advi – sor and on being asked why, he stated with a huge pause, “I thought I can successfully do that keeping in view my strengths. Moreover, I wanted to start my own business venture in the insurance field and thought this would be just the right path and a great kick-start.”
It will not be out of place to mention that he left RBC after two years’ service and opened his independent Broker – age. Being destined, he met Sherjang Singh Rana, and both started this present venture – in 2006 – under the name of Punjab Insurance Agency Inc. Years later, the firm is a successful, indepen – dent insurance brokerage company with offices across Canada. While Rana takes care of the Toronto office, Sandeep manages the Surrey Office.
When asked how confident he was to foresee his insurance business will be a roaring success. He quipped, “If you really believe that you have something amazing to share with the world (and there is a market for it), then go for it as the risk is a calculated one.”
The growth that they have seen so far is just the beginning, there are many mile – stones to be reached. On the family front, he is the youngest among the four siblings. Two of his elderly brothers are in Insurance business too – in Canada. As they say, behind every successful man there is a woman. His wife Rashmi Ahuja – an Insurance Advisor – is actively engaged in this business and Sandeep was in full praise of her role in shaping this business as a successful venture. They are blessed with 3 children — Abhinav, Tesoro, and daughter Simone.
Ahuja’s idea of quality time is going for a long drive with his family or playing badminton with his pals.
When asked where he sees himself in the next 10 years, he said, “I want to serve the Indian Community in their language and continue to serve their insurance needs to their satisfaction.” He signed off.
