As I met this 46 years young Sardar Bakhshish Singh Zira President Basant Group of Companies in his cozy Forex office, in Payal Business Center Surrey, I could not help thinking about his Takhallus Zira. True to his Takhallus (means something like a pen name, or nom de plume.) He feels proud of his family roots in a city named Zira in Punjab Province as they are very well known in the area.
“A true entrepreneur risks, more than others think, is safe. Incurably dream more than others think, is practically achievable. Mr. Bakhshish Singh understands the pulse of entrepreneurship.”
To wear well, speak well, and live well is Mr. Singh’s strength and he is enjoying the rewards of his hard work by living in a posh bungalow and luxury vehicles.
The real struggle for him started in Canada wherein he made his humble beginnings. He started as a Sales Associate with a local newspaper and then started publishing his own newspaper Des Pardes (yr. 2000-2006). In 2002 he started his own Forex Business, which he is pursuing now aggressively with passion and poise. He also started Basant Sweets in 2004 and successfully ran for 10 years.During my initial confabulations, Mr. Singh Informed me that after completing his Post Graduation in History and Punjabi, destiny brought him to Canada in 1997 as he married his wife Deep Inder Kaur, already staying in Canada.
When asked what his mantra of success is, he stated, “Give your 100 percent with constancy to purpose and honesty of commitment and have patience as God is always ready to reward your sincere efforts.”
He belongs to a religious family who is ever ready to help the community. His respected father Sr. Gurdeep Singh served as SGPC member for 25 years. More so, he was elected unopposed for all these years.
Sr. Bakhshish is actively engaged in Punjab politics and continue to make his level best for the growth of Punjab Province and his area of origin i.e. Zira.
Mr. Singh is engaged in many philanthropic activities here in Surrey as well as Punjab India. He is blessed with three kids namely Pawanpreet Kaur (19), Kanwarpreet Kaur (16) and son Jaipreet Singh (8).
His hobbies are Bhangra, watching Sports and with Field Hockey in particular. He loves spending time with his family and do charity in his spare time. He is helping the deprived people in his home town Zira, financially for over two decades.
When asked where he see himself, down the lane, after 10 years- he gave a quick reply, “I want to venture into Construction Industry apart from increasing my exposure into Entertainment Industry. He hastened to add that couple of more entertainment shows TARSEM JASSAR are coming up in forthcoming months and a Punjabi Film Atte Di Chhri; the shoot for which will start in Canada in May 2018. He has plans to start his own Punjabi TV Channel in years to come.
Mr. Singh don’t get afraid to assert himself, have full confidence in his abilities and don’t let the unmerited feedback by the jealous ones get him down. His cool calm, composed, collected and comfortable attitude leads him in succession.
