Essential Oils Defined: Essential oils are compounds extracted from various plants. These oils capture the plant’s scent and flavor apart from the healing properties. Unique aroma in these compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence viz., a lavender oil has a different soothing essence as compared with eucalyptus oil Essential oils are obtained through distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing.
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the inherent, natural and healing smell and flavor, or “essence,” of their source
Once the aromatic chemicals have been extracted from the plant source, they are combined with a carrier oil to create a product that’s ready for use.
The way the oils are made is important, as essential oils obtained through chemical processes are not considered true essential oils.

They can occasionally be ingested, although this approach isn’t always safe and is not recommended. One needs a doctors’ advice for that in the light of the fact that chemicals in essential oils can interact with your body in a number of ways which are detrimental.
It’s thought that certain methods can lead to better absorption, such as applying with heat or to different areas of the body. However, more researchis needed in this regard.
