Dussehra is an important Hindu festival which is celebrated in a variety of ways all over the world. On Oct 11, 2016, Surrey’s Laxmi Narayan Mandir hosted this event which was attended by thousands.

Corporal Jag Khosa of The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC) and volunteers from S.A.V.E (Students Against Violence Everywhere) participated in this event to raise awareness on gangs. CFSEUBC is British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency. It is the largest integrated police program in Canada, made up of members from every police department in B.C. Since Dussehra symbolizes the conquest of good over evil, this day served as a perfect reminder for us all to fight the evil within and stay away from leading a negative lifestyle.

As a member of CFSEU-BC’s Gang Intervention team, I would like to thank the organizers for putting together such a wonderful and positive event.
